Dangyang Grand Canyon 当阳大峡谷

Location: Chongqing City, Wushan County, Dangyang Daxiagu

How to get there: One hour by car from Dajiuhu 大九湖 in Shennongjia 神农架 to Dangyang Village 当阳乡, where the Grand Canyon starts. We stayed one night in Dangyang Village, trekked through the canyon the next day, and returned to Muyuzhen 木鱼镇 (the tourist center in Shennongjia) late in the afternoon.
It’s also possible to go from Wushan 巫山 to the canyon, it takes at least 3 hours.

The asphalt road is rather new and in good condition. It’s sparsely trafficked, maybe one car every 5 or 10 minutes, so it’s a convenient walking trail.

Halfway between Dangyang Village and Pinghe Village is a 5km long by-road up to Daxia Village 大峡村, a beautiful walk on an asphalt road without cars or people. The following photos are from this by-road:
